Every time I’d bring up the idea, they’d say “oh I don’t really want to do groups.... that’s not really for me.”

so... okay, fine. guess I’m not doing groups. 🤷‍♀️🥴

I genuinely believed that was a reasonable business decision. But it wasn’t. it was just my fear disguised as a “rational business owner.”

But that’s exactly the nuance —

Your students saying they don’t want to come to a group class is NOT information about whether you should offer one. It’s information about what you need to help them feel before they’re ready to try one.

bc here’s what’s true — most people are scared to sing in front of other people.

That’s not a coincidence, that’s the work. That is literally the work of being a voice teacher — helping someone feel safe enough to use their voice with other humans in the room.

So when my students say “groups aren’t for me,” I eventually started asking the *real* rational question: WHY?

& every time? It wasn’t about the group. it was about their relationship with their own voice. their fear of being heard. their fear of judgment.

That 👆👆 is a beautiful teaching opportunity if you’re willing to see it that way.

- students just wanting “private lessons, please”
- not seeing more income despite how much work you put in

ILY — you’re a GREAT teacher. You want to hold their hand bc you genuinely want to see them progress. That IS wonderful!

Here’s the truth about social media no one wants to tell you 👀👇

It’s not the algorithms fault that you’re not getting sign ups.
Or more views. Or likes. Or comments.

It’s the fact that you CARE.

🤭😵‍💫🫠

Social media is a mirror of your own emotional maturity.

When things get challenging — you’re posting all the time but not seeing results — it’s easiest for our ego to put the blame on IT rather than looking at our own blindspots.

The reason why you’re tired of feeling like you need to post more is because you’re posting for the wrong reasons.

It’s not about “posting more to get sign ups.”
It’s about “posting BECAUSE I’m devotedAF to serving my people and myself.” ❤️‍🔥

The strategy to getting sign ups with social media is simply this:
Make the process to posting consistently EASIER. Period.

Make it your personal devotion to stop overcomplicating it, stop making it fancy, stop making it bigger than it needs to be, stop editing, and get instead, get your MESSAGE OUT.

2 - Build a regular group class
There’s truly nothing better than showing up for a 75 minute class once a week and making $300 every class. You can’t beat it! If you haven’t experimented with it as a voice teacher yet, let this be the year you do it.

3 - Change your private lesson model
Look at the length of your sessions,# of lessons/mo, hourly rates, and everythinggg else you offer/want to offer beyond the lesson time.
Ex) instead of offering weekly 30 minute lessons/month, offer 3x 45 minute lessons/month with a higher rate + week off.

I have naturally bright blonde hair.
I have a bubbly personality.
When I was 19, I was cast as Cinderella at Disneyland for a hot sec, (I quit a week later… fun story for another time 😬).
I used to be an elementary school music teacher.
Kids love me.
Young girls love me.
And parent clients told their friends who also had 8 year old girls all about me… making my voice teaching business REAL full! 👯‍♀️💰

YET…

I was counting down the minutes in those lessons.
I yearned for more depth with my students.
And I noticed that I enjoyed teaching (the very few) late teens/adult students more than kids.

When I got to the heart of it… I was afraid to let go of these young students because they were loyal, paid me, and loved me.

Let that SINK IN 👆🙏

Because the TRUTH of business is that there is no real *abundance* without the alignment.

If you’re not working with students you EXPAND you, you won’t expand!
If your students aren’t a match for you, you WILL hit an income limit. And you may even burn out along the way.
